How we help Windsor
To keep things focused, we work across five core areas. Click any of them below for a Windsor-specific page on how we handle that type of matter.
Conveyancing → Heritage and weatherboard cottages in the Thompson Square precinct. Also, modern homes across Bligh Park and Windsor Downs, riverside properties, semi-rural blocks and standard residential resales. Importantly, we know what to watch for in flood-affected property disclosures along the Hawkesbury.
Wills and Estates → Wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardianship, probate, letters of administration and contested estates. Given the long-settled nature of Windsor and the surrounding Hawkesbury, this is a substantial part of our work in the area.
Traffic Offences → From drink driving and speeding through to licence appeals and P-plater suspensions. Typically heard at Windsor Local Court on George Street.
Criminal Law → Whether it’s assault, AVOs, drug offences, theft or a first-time charge, we focus on protecting your record and your future.
Family Law → Separation, divorce, parenting, property settlements and consent orders. Above all, we keep things calm, quick and child-focused.
Why Windsor locals choose us
First, we appear at Windsor Local Court. Our office is in Bella Vista, around 25 minutes down Windsor Road. However, we’re regularly at the Windsor Courthouse on Court Street. As a result, we know how the list runs, who the registrars are, and what the magistrate expects — so by the time your first appearance comes around, it isn’t anyone’s first day. We also appear regularly at Parramatta Local Court and the Federal Circuit and Family Court at Parramatta.
Second, we’re small enough to care. From start to finish, you’ll speak to the principal solicitor on every matter — not a different paralegal each call. In most cases, clients reach us within a business day. Beyond that, we offer after-hours appointments when work or family makes business hours impossible. In addition, we offer home visits for clients across the Hawkesbury who find it difficult to travel.
Finally, we’re upfront on cost. Wherever the matter allows, we offer fixed-fee quotes. Otherwise, you’ll get a clear written estimate before any work begins. Either way, no surprise bills.
About the town we serve
Windsor is one of the oldest European settlements in Australia. Founded in 1791 — just three years after the First Fleet — it was renamed by Governor Macquarie in 1810 as one of his original five Macquarie Towns, alongside Richmond, Castlereagh, Pitt Town and Wilberforce. Today, it remains the administrative heart of the Hawkesbury LGA. Many of its colonial buildings are still standing — Thompson Square, the Macquarie Arms Inn, St Matthew’s Anglican Church, the Windsor Courthouse and the Toll House on the bridge approach, with several protected on the NSW State Heritage Register.
The town itself is small — around 1,900 residents in Windsor proper. However, it sits at the centre of a much larger community of around 17,000 across South Windsor, Bligh Park, Windsor Downs, McGraths Hill and the surrounding semi-rural Hawkesbury. The housing mix tells the story. Closer to the river and Thompson Square, you’ll find heritage workers’ cottages and Georgian and Victorian-era homes. Further out, there’s the planned 1980s Landcom estate at Bligh Park and the larger semi-rural blocks of Windsor Downs from the early 1990s. Finally, a continuing mix of modern townhouses and apartments sits closer to the railway station.
In terms of who lives there, the demographic skews older and is predominantly Anglo-Australian — median age around 40, with nearly 80% of residents born in Australia, and English, Irish and Scottish ancestries dominating. Many families have been in the area for generations. Consequently, the work we see from Windsor reflects that mix. For instance, wills and estate planning for families with property and farmland held for decades, conveyancing on heritage and flood-affected properties along the river, and contested estates. In addition, family law matters involving rural and semi-rural assets, plus the traffic and criminal matters that come with a regional commuter township at the end of Windsor Road.
Getting to us from Windsor
Our office is in Bella Vista, an easy run from Windsor down Windsor Road.
By car — around 25 minutes via Windsor Road, or a similar time via the Old Windsor Road. Free parking on site. By train and Metro — T1 Richmond line from Windsor station, change at Tallawong for the Metro, then one stop to Bella Vista. From there, we’re a one-minute walk from the platform. By phone or video — alternatively, we offer phone and video consultations for any matter, plus after-hours appointments where needed. Home visits — for clients who find travel difficult, particularly for wills, powers of attorney and estate matters, we can come to you anywhere across the Hawkesbury.
In short, we’re a Hills-based firm that genuinely services the Hawkesbury — not one that lists it on a website and hopes you’ll make the drive in.

Frequently asked questions: courts, fees and conveyancing
Which court will my Windsor matter be heard at? Generally, most Local Court matters from Windsor and across the Hawkesbury — including traffic charges, AVOs, and lower-level criminal matters — are heard at Windsor Local Court on Court Street, just behind Thompson Square. Family law matters, however, are usually filed in the Federal Circuit and Family Court at Parramatta. In either case, we appear regularly.
Do you offer fixed fees? Yes, for simple matters. For instance, conveyancing, simple wills, powers of attorney, and many traffic and some low-level criminal matters.
Do you offer home visits across the Hawkesbury? Yes. For clients who find travel difficult — particularly for wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardianship and estate matters — we can come to your home anywhere from Windsor through to Wilberforce, Pitt Town and the surrounding semi-rural Hawkesbury.
My property is on a flood-affected block near the river. Is there anything specific I need to know before buying or selling? Yes — and it’s a question we get often along the Hawkesbury. Flood-affected properties need careful contract review on both sides of a transaction. In particular, you need to consider disclosure obligations under section 52A of the Conveyancing Act 1919, the section 10.7(2) and (5) planning certificate, insurance availability and cost, and any flood-risk overlays in the Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan. We’ve handled conveyancing along the Hawkesbury for years and will walk you through what each of these means in plain language before you sign anything.
Can you help with heritage-listed or character properties in Thompson Square or central Windsor? Yes. Heritage-listed and contributory properties carry additional restrictions. On one hand, the NSW Heritage Act 1977 applies to State Heritage Register items like St Matthew’s, Macquarie Arms and the Courthouse precinct. On the other, the Hawkesbury LEP’s local heritage schedules apply more broadly. Importantly, this affects what renovations, additions and uses are permissible, and what searches need to be done before you commit to a purchase. We’ll talk you through it at the first consult.
Frequently asked questions: appointments and consultations
How much does the first consultation cost? The first call is free. After that, longer consultations are charged at our standard rate, which we’ll tell you about upfront.
How quickly can I get an appointment? In most cases, clients are booked in within one to two business days. For urgent matters — bail, AVO listings, urgent parenting issues, or a hospital bedside will — we’ll see you the same day where we can.
Can I have an after-hours or weekend appointment? Yes. By arrangement, we offer evening and weekend appointments for clients who can’t make it in during business hours.
Do you offer phone or video consultations? Yes — for any matter. In fact, many Windsor and Hawkesbury clients prefer phone or video for the first consult, given the distance, and only come into the office (or have us visit) when documents need signing.
What if my matter isn’t in one of your five practice areas? Give us a call. If it’s not something we handle, then we’ll point you toward a local solicitor who does.
