On the corner of George and Marsden Streets, Parramatta NSW 2150. The Children’s Court sits nearby at 2 George Street, and the District Court is in the same George Street complex.
Train, light rail or car
About a five minute walk from Parramatta station on the T1 and T5 lines, with light rail stops close by. Parking is easiest at Westfield or one of the commercial stations rather than on the street.
Arrive well before 9:30am
Lists start at 9:30am and there is a security screening queue that builds. Give yourself half an hour, find your courtroom on the list at the door, and give your name to the court officer.
What is heard there
Parramatta Local Court deals with summary criminal matters, traffic offences, AVO applications, bail applications and civil disputes. Some indictable matters can be finalised there. More serious indictable charges are committed to the District Court, which sits in the same precinct. Matters involving a person under 18 go to the Children’s Court.
If you are not sure which court your matter is listed at, the notice will say. Check it against the NSW Courts website before you travel, because a Parramatta address does not always mean a Parramatta listing.

Will my matter be heard at Parramatta Local Court?
If you were charged in the Parramatta area, usually yes. Your court attendance notice states the court and the date, so check it rather than assuming. Serious indictable matters are committed to the District Court, which sits in the same George Street precinct, and matters involving anyone under 18 go to the Children’s Court.
Where do I park at Parramatta Local Court?
Street parking around George and Marsden Streets is limited and heavily restricted, and a parking fine is a poor start to the day. Westfield and the commercial parking stations in the CBD are the practical options. Better still, take the train, since the court is about five minutes’ walk from Parramatta station.
What time should I get there?
Lists start at 9:30am, but arrive by 9:00am. There is a security screening queue that builds in the morning, and you need time to find your courtroom on the list and give your name to the court officer. Matters are not called in the order printed, so expect to wait once you are inside.
Do I have to come to Bella Vista, or can you meet me in Parramatta?
Most clients do the first consultation by phone or video and come to the office once, when documents need signing. If you are attending court at Parramatta we are there anyway, so a conference at court can often be arranged. Tell us what works when you call.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Usually within one to two business days. For urgent matters, including bail, AVO listings and urgent parenting issues, we will see you the same day where we can. The first call costs nothing.
Do you act on apartment and off the plan purchases?
Yes, and it is a good part of our Parramatta conveyancing work. The things worth watching in this market are sunset clauses in off the plan contracts, strata by-laws and levies in newer buildings, defect history, and which stamp duty concessions apply at the price point you are buying at.
